biodiesel tank

How do I clean out a home heating oil tank ?
I was given a 275 gal home heating oil tank. Aside from hiring someone to come in and vacuum it out I was wondering if there was a good way to clean it. It does have a 1/2 plug in the bottom. I want to use it for biodiesel and it needs to be fairly clean.
I would drain it of course and take out the plug on top and look inside with a flashlite and see how much gunk is in it. if alot I would get some kerosene and and work the tank around and then pull that plug out at bottom and drain, repeat as necessary. also consider putting a inline filter to catch any dirt coming out in the future
