How difficult is it to produce biodiesel at home?

I've been doing some research about it and I'm thinking of buying an old Mercedes. From what I understand the only conversion that really need new fuel lines, but my main concern is how realistic is that I do in my garage with used vegetable oil from a restaurant. What is the main difference between biodiesel and WVO? I'm confused.
